Faecal-Oral Transmission Route

The faecal-oral transmission route is a common pathway for the spread of infectious diseases, especially in environments with inadequate sanitation and hygiene practices. This route involves the transfer of pathogens present in fecal matter from one individual to another, primarily through ingestion. Key Steps in Faecal-Oral Transmission: Pathogen Excretion : Infected individuals excrete pathogens in their feces. These pathogens can include bacteria, viruses, protozoa, and helminths. Environmental Contamination : Fecal matter contaminates the environment, such as water, soil, and surfaces, often due to improper disposal of human waste. Pathogen Survival : Pathogens survive in the environment and may come into contact with food, water, or surfaces. Transmission to New Host : The pathogens are ingested by a new host through contaminated food, water, hands, or objects. Infection : Once ingested, the pathogens infect the new host, leading to the spread of disease. Schematic Diagram B...
